Plausible Analytics Terms of Service

When we say “company”, “we”, “our”, “us”, “service” or “services” in this document, we are referring to Plausible Analytics.
These Terms apply to Plausible Analytics Cloud. Self-hosted usage is governed by the applicable open source license.
We may update these Terms of Service in the future. Whenever we make a significant change, we may notify you via email or public channels such as our blog.
When you use our service, now or in the future, you are agreeing to the latest Terms of Service. That’s true for any of our existing and future products and all features that we add to our service over time. There may be times where we do not exercise or enforce any right or provision of the Terms of Service; in doing so, we are not waiving that right or provision. These terms do contain a limitation of our liability. Our Data Processing Agreement (DPA) forms part of these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, do not use this service. Violation of any of the terms below may result in the termination of your account.
Account terms
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. Plausible Analytics cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage from your failure to comply with this security obligation.
You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your account (even by others who have their own logins under your account).
You may not use our service for any illegal purpose or to violate any laws in your jurisdiction.
Payment, refunds, upgrading and downgrading terms
For our free trial, we explain the length of trial when you sign up. We do not ask for your credit card. After the trial period, you need to pay in advance to keep using the service. If you do not pay, we may suspend or restrict access to your account until payment is made.
If you are upgrading from a free trial to a paid plan, we will charge you immediately and your billing cycle starts on the day of upgrade.
Paying customers are billed automatically via supported payment methods.
The number of pageviews purchased in the paid plan must be used during the applicable term and any unused pageviews at the end of the term are forfeited.
You will never be charged extra for an occasional traffic spike. There are no surprise fees and your card will never be charged unexpectedly. In the event the usage of pageviews exceeds the paid plan you selected for two consecutive months, we will contact you to upgrade to a higher plan for the following month. You will have a limited time to decide. You can choose to upgrade to a higher plan or cancel your subscription. If no action is taken, access to your stats may be restricted.
You can upgrade or downgrade in plan level at any time within your account settings. Downgrading your plan may cause the loss of features or capacity of your account. Plausible Analytics does not accept any liability for such loss.
Our payment process is handled by Paddle, which also manages customer service inquiries and returns. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout. Paddle collects and remits those taxes to the relevant authorities. See Paddle’s Terms of Use for details.
Fees paid hereunder are non-refundable.
Cancellation and termination
You are solely responsible for properly canceling your account. An email to cancel your account is not considered cancellation. You can find instructions for how to cancel your account here. We provide a simple cancellation flow.
If you cancel the service before the end of your current paid period, your cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle and you will not be charged again. All of your stats will be inaccessible after the time you paid for expires. Data may be retained in backups for a limited period before permanent deletion and cannot be recovered once deleted.
You can choose to delete your account and all your site stats at any time. All your stats will be permanently deleted without undue delay when you delete your Plausible Analytics account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and refuse any current or future use of the service for any reason at any time. Such termination will result in the deactivation or deletion of your account or access to your data. Plausible Analytics reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.
Verbal, physical, written or other abuse (including threats of abuse or retribution) of any service customer, company employee or officer may result in immediate account termination.
Modifications to the service and prices
We reserve the right at any time to modify or discontinue any part of the service with or without notice.
Sometimes we change the pricing structure for our products. When we do that, we tend to exempt existing customers from those changes. However, we may choose to change prices for existing customers. If we do so, we will give at least 30 days notice via email.
Plausible Analytics shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, price change, suspension or discontinuance of the service.
Content ownership, copyright and trademark
You are solely responsible for any content and other material that you submit, publish, transmit, email or display through the service.
You may provide feedback and suggestions about the service. You agree that we may use and incorporate your feedback without restriction or compensation.
You must not modify another website to falsely imply association with Plausible Analytics. The service is protected by copyright and trademark laws. You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any portion of the service without permission.
Privacy and security of your data
We take many measures to protect and secure your data through backups, redundancies and encryption.
You entrust us with your site data and we take that trust seriously. You agree that Plausible Analytics may process your data as described in our data policy.
You retain full ownership and control of your website data. We do not sell your data and only share it with trusted service providers where necessary to operate and provide the service.
We do not collect or store personal data about your website visitors that can be used to identify individuals, and we do not use behavioral data for advertising purposes.
Each party agrees to handle the other party’s data in accordance with applicable laws and appropriate security measures.
You agree not to use the service to send sensitive information such as credit card numbers, government identifiers, financial account information, real-time geolocation or other highly sensitive personal data.
General conditions
Your use of Plausible Analytics is at your sole risk. The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the service and may experience downtime from time to time. Visit our status page for current service status.
We do not guarantee that the service will meet your specific requirements.
Technical support is provided by email on a reasonable effort basis.
Authorized personnel may access your data where necessary to provide support, maintain the service and ensure security.
We use third party vendors to provide infrastructure, storage, payment processing and related services. More details are available in our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Plausible Analytics shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, data or goodwill.
This agreement is governed by the laws of Estonia and disputes will be handled in Estonian courts.
